Skin Graft Mesher Instruction Manual
|
A skin graft mesher is a surgical device used primarily in plastic and reconstructive surgery to expand the surface area of a harvested split-thickness skin graft. By cutting a geometric pattern of slits into the skin, the device allows the graft to be stretched over a much larger wound than its original size
Expansion: It enlarges the graft to cover extensive wounds (e.g., severe burns) when donor skin is limited. Common expansion ratios include 1.5:1, 2:1, 3:1, 4:1, 6:1, and 9:1. Drainage Facilitation: The slits (fenestrations) created by the mesher allow blood and serous fluid to drain through the graft, reducing the risk of hematoma or seroma formation, which can cause graft failure. Contouring: Meshed grafts conform more effectively to irregular or concave wound surfaces compared to solid sheet grafts Derma Carrier Plates Sterile Packed.
