Components of a DVIU Set

A standard set contains several key instruments that work together during the procedure

• Optical Urethrotomy Telescope: This is a high-resolution endoscope (often 4mm diameter, compatible with 0° or 30° vision) that provides a clear, magnified view inside the urethra to accurately identify the stricture.
• Optical Urethrotome Sheath: A tube, typically around 21 French in size, inserted into the urethra. It provides a channel for the telescope, cutting instruments, and irrigation fluids.
• Obturator: Used with the sheath during initial insertion to ensure smooth and safe passage into the urethra, minimizing tissue trauma.
• Optical Working Element: This component holds the cutting instrument and connects to the telescope and sheath. It allows the surgeon to control the blade or knife loop and enables precise incisions.
